Rod Gotfried is a 28 year old cinematographer based in Sydney Australia.
Born in Perth, Western Australia, Rod has lived in Sydney since 2002. Throughout his 28 years he has travelled throughout 6 continents and over 50 countries capturing images along the way. Some of his highlights include climbing to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro, camping in the Kalahari Desert, climbing a live volcano in Guatemala and white water rafting through the Sonora Desert in northern Mexico.
It was his passion for travel and adventure that initially ignited his passion for filmmaking and photography. With the aim of capturing the beautiful places he visited as a way to preserve the memory of what he had seen and experienced, Rod began creating travel videos and photos as a dedicated hobby. That hobby quickly evolved into a profession, and he has since refined his skills to be able to create content for a number of commercial clients. He also has experience working as in camera assist, and as a B camera operator on larger productions.
He has worked directly for clients such as Aston Martin, Club Med Hotels, the NSW Government, Real Insurance as well as camera assisting on larger scale productions. He has experience working with Red, Sony and Canon cinema cameras and owns an extensive selection of lighting, grip and audio equipment.
His videos have been viewed over 100,000 times online and have been featured by Huffington Post, Rough Guides, Conde Nast Traveller, Destination NSW and more.
He is currently on a year long round-the-world journey with his partner Jackie, creating a number of travel projects along the way.
